Oct 13, 1931 - Dec 13, 2017
Born October 13th, 1931 first born to Maximilian and Victoria Baschzok, older brother to Siegfried, John and Helmut, pre-deceased by all.

Born in Krzisvhowitz, Upper Silesia (Germany/Poland, depending on who was in power). When he was 14, he and his family fled the Russian invasion after learning of the family being on a list to be exterminated. They lived one year in refugee status, then were miraculously relocated under USA protection.

Max worked in the coal mine in Peissenberg Germany until 1953, when the family came to Canada. He also worked in Fernie and later Kaslo, where he was injured in a falling accident. He then spent the rest of his working career as Head of Maintenance for the school board, in Kaslo, BC. Maximilian enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating, gardening and, of course, music. He was seldom without a dog or two. Or three...

Max is survived by sister in law Janet, her children, David and Victoria, and her grandchildren, Aiyanna and Maxi Jr. Also, nieces Maureen, Elizabeth, Helen and Jennifer and a grand nephew, Evan, and four grand nieces - Jordan, Teri, Emily and Christina.

He had a rare quality about him, and was loved by so many.

He was pre-deceased by wife Colette in 2012. He died December 13th, 2017.

A small service will be held at the Lutheran Church in Courtenay, Saturday, January 13th at 2:00 pm.
