Strand, Melvin Georgson
Passed away January 1st, 2003 at the age of 76. He is survived by companion Anita Becker; sons: Dennis (Janice), Mel (Trudy), Doug (Sandra), Rob (Carmen); daughter Debbie Maxwell (Doug); grandchildren: Tenille, Jay, Devon, Kevin, Lindsay, Spencer, Jazmine, Sarah, Sonja, Sandra and Lyle; sister Marion (Les); and brother Gary (Judi). Also remembered by Wayne (Shirley) Becker and boys Jacob and Adam, Shelley (Garth) Williams and daughter Eryn. Also numerous other relations.
Mel began his career driving logging trucks on the island from there he joined the retail business working for Safeway. In his later years until retirement he worked for C.E. at the Comox Air Base as a grounds supervisor. Melvin was a member in good standing of Cumberland Masonic Hall #26.
Mel will be remembered for his personable, friendly attitude to all those who crossed his path. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Celebration of Life was held Tuesday, January 7th at Piercy’s Funeral Home.
