On September 30, Merlyn Thornley peacefully passed away in Kamloops.

Survived by her loving husband, Marvin Thornley of 49 years; children: Russell (Donna) Thornley of Black Creek, BC, Jim (Deb) Thornley of Surrey, BC, Judy (Bruce) Nichol of Courtenay, BC; grandchildren: Tamara, Rob, Desiree, Cheryl, Ken and Derek; 4 great-grandchildren: Breanne, Skye, Dakota, Shaleen; brother Ervin (Flo) Case; brothers-in-law: Ron Thornley and Angus Murray; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pre-deceased by her parents Edward & Anne Case, sister, Joan Murray (Case), son Mark Thornley (1997) and daughter Elva-Anne (1955).

Merlyn was a member of the Canadian Daughters League starting in 1956. She loved sport fishing and country days in the Comox Valley where she lived for 24 years before moving back to Kamloops in 1997. Merlyn was an avid crafter and passed these skills to her children. Including her many hobbies, Merlyn’s proudest accomplishments were her husband and family and she was never as happy as when she could have them all together with her.

Merlyn will be sadly missed and forever remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street with Reverend Patricia McColl officiating.
