Mildred Kathleen Nielsen

Nielsen - Mildred Kathleen (nee: Johnstone) of Courtenay, formerly of Campbell River passed away peacefully in Glacier View Lodge on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, age 94. Predeceased by her husband Knuid Ditlef - Nielsen, by her parents and her two brothers Donald and Harold Johnstone; Kathleen is survived by her nephews Kirby (Fae) Johnstone of Vancouver, Allan (Ester) Johnstone of Beaver Lodge and Robert (June) Johnstone of Grand Forks and by her nieces Mavor (Stan) Moore of Princeton and Kathy (Garry) Gillis of Duchess, AB and their families. Also survived by her sister-in-law; Elizabeth Johnston of Brooks, AB. Born in North Grimsby, Ontario on June 27, 1907, she married Knuid Ditlef-Nielsen in 1927 and moved to Denmark in 1933. She returned to Canada in 1953 after her husband’s death. She moved to British Columbia and resumed her teaching career. She taught school on Cortez Island, Rock Bay, and Campbell River and retired to Comox in her later years. In her leisure time she enjoyed painting, art, and writing.


A Memorial Tea will be held on Friday, April 19th at 2:00 PM at Glacier View Lodge, 2450 Back Road, Courtenay. COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay, BC entrusted with the arrangements. Donations made to The Canadian Red Cross Society, 170 Metcalfe Street, Suite 300, Ottawa, ON, K2P 2P2 would be appreciated.
