In Loving Memory ~

Having lived a full life Rae passed away peacefully in her home of 62 years in Comox, BC.

Rae was predeceased by her father and mother, Tom and Muriel Carlile, and her brother, Tom.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Connie, children Kerry (Linda), Craig (Patti) and Torri; grandchildren Ian, Craig (Jill), Marty (Laraine) and Holly (Wayne); great grandchildren Asher, Esme, Calvin, Oscar, Dylan and Oaklen; sister-in-law, Joan; her nephew and nieces and her close friends who remained loyal and connected to her until her passing.

Rae was born in Cumberland, B.C., and with her sister, Connie, and brother, Tom, lived in various communities around the Comox Valley. After finishing business school Rae met and married Keith Seale and after several years and moves to other provinces Kerry, Craig and Torri were born. In 1962 the family returned to Comox where Rae spent the rest of her life.

Rae was a tireless worker in her church and her community. A long list of organizations benefitted from her support and leadership. She led from the front, but she also led from the back. She spent as many hours with a tea towel in her hand as she did presenting, counselling, encouraging, and organizing.

No job was too big or too small. Her many hours of service testify to the depth of her commitment to the people and community she cared about.

Her service to community began early with Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT) and Boy Scout leadership. Friendly Visitors, Family Court, Citizenship Court, and Hope Counselling followed.

She also supported many young people through the Shekinah Christian Coffee House which she led every Saturday night for 11 years at St. Peter's Parish hall.

She was President of St. Peter's Anglican Church Women (ACW) and also, the Diocesan President of ACW over many years. On June 11, 1985, she was made a Lay Canon of the Diocese of B.C., the first woman to be so honoured.

In addition, Rae served on the Altar Guild and as People's Warden for many of her years at St. Peters, Comox.

Besides people, Mum loved music, sports, travel, and cats, most recently her sweet Muffin. She was an avid Canucks fan and enjoyed her adventures to Eastern Canada Greece and the Yukon. Spending time with her family was an immense joy and her great grandkids adored and respected her.

Mum had a wonderful sense of humour, was kind, caring, honest, loving, loyal, giving, and forgiving. The world is a better place because Mum was in it.

Mum may be honoured by contributions to any of the Christian or animal rescue causes she supported.

A Memorial Service for Rae was held on June 1, 2024, at St. Mathew's Anglican Church in Abbotsford, BC. You are welcome to view the video of the Service at
