January 20, 1938 - September 24, 2020
It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Myrna Alexander announces her passing at Cumberland Lodge. Deeply mourned by husband Sam, children Bob (Deb), Don, Wendy, and Steve (Cheryl), eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brother David (Kathleen) Harrison, nieces and cousins in the Comox Valley and beyond.
Myrna was born and raised in the Valley, daughter of Roy and Gladys (Bowen) Harrison.
In 1955, she met Sam Alexander, "an Airforce Man" from Ontario, and they married in Courtenay the following year. Soon after the birth of their son Bob, they were transferred overseas and spent a year in Marville, France.
Thus began a 63-year adventure, which found Myrna and Sam living in various locations on the Island, with a couple of winters in Mesa, Arizona, thrown in for fun. Myrna loved nothing better than taking care of her family, and in later years, long road trips with her beloved husband Sam were the ultimate thrill for this self-acclaimed "Gypsy".
The family extends sincere thanks and gratitude for the amazing staff at Cumberland Lodge, who gave Myrna such wonderful care while she was there.
"Thou art my life, my love, my heart, the very eyes of me: And hast command of every part to live and die for thee" ― Robert Herrick
