May 19, 1946 - March 24, 2020
Mom passed away quietly at the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice on Tuesday March 24, 2020 at the tender age of 73. She fought a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis for many years using her tenacity, humour and positive outlook. She was an inspiration to many.
Predeceased by her deeply loved parents Maria and Gerrit Zondag and her dear brother in law Ernest Manchester. She leaves behind the broken hearts of her children Ray and Karen Brown. Grandchildren Courtenay, Tyson and Mackenzie Brown. Brother Jake (Carol) Zondag of Red Deer Alta. Sisters Ena (Ernie 2003) Manchester of St. Thomas On, Bep (Ron) Campbell of Winnipeg Man and Liz (Albin) Petan of Barrie On. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved dearly. We would like to thank all of the amazing staff at the
hospice. You all made this painful journey bearable. A special thank you to Vic and Eileen Smith for your tireless help and support, and to Sharon, Tammy, Amy and Jess. You were much more than her caregivers, you were her friends. Thank you so much for always going the extra mile for her.
Mom spent much of her life on Vancouver Island, working at the
Washington Inn's Mex Pub. When she retired she moved to Stratford Ontario to be with her children and grandchildren. By her request there will not be a funeral. Her remains will be cremated and brought back to the Island, where she longed to be. A celebration of life is tentatively planned on her birthday, May 19, 2020 at the Memorial Baptist Church in Stratford. Due to the recent world events the date may have to be adjusted.
