Born on Nov. 6, 1928 in Stockholm, Sask., passed way peacefully on Feb.14, 2018 at Glacier View Lodge in Courtenay, BC at the age of 89.
Nick was happily married on July 3, 1954 to Eva (nee Novak) for 57 years until she passed away on Aug. 14, 2011. Nick and Eva enjoyed the Airforce life, stationed in various locations in Ontario, Germany, Manitoba and finally Comox, while raising their daughter Mary and son Timothy who passed away June 23, 1996.
Nick loved his 8 grandchildren Mitchell, Jonathon and James Lopaschuk and Teresa, Brad and Chris, Kevin and Kaitlan Zomar, and his great grandchildren Emily, Zachary, Owen, Ryan, Noah and Cadence Zomar.
Nick is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Martha (nee Kaczur), wife Eva and son Timothy as well as his 14 brothers and sisters of which Nick was the last.
Dad loved hunting, fishing, crib, bridge and being with his family.
Donations in his memory made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
Prayers will be held at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Rd., Courtenay on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6:30 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church, Courtenay on Friday, Feb. 23 at 11:00 am.
