Norma Armstrong Robinson

Norma was born October 25, 1927 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She passed away, unexpectedly February 1, 2015 in Courtenay.

She was predeceased by her parents Wilbur and Irma Oliver and her husband Bob in 2013. Norma is survived by son Mark (Marlee), granddaughters Abigail and Nya and son Ross (Susan) and granddaughters Alicia and Amanda, her brother Tom, nieces Lori, Karen, nephew Bill and their families. Also survived by her brother-in-law Keith and Jeni, as well as by her special cousin Gwen (Fred) Grant, also great friends Mattie and Cal Jones. Norma graduated from Alexandra Composite High School, Medicine Hat and began working at her dad’s store, Oliver’s Dry Goods. She then managed the store eventually selling it when her dad died in August 1959.

She would attend hockey games all over Southern Alberta. She met Bob while skating on the outdoor rinks. They were married in June 1959. They moved a lot, to all parts of BC, settling in Royston, where they cared for their “four legged mustangs” and “four wheeled mustangs”.

Norma was proud of her Irish heritage, with strong beliefs and views, she was very sharp and blunt. She was also very caring and supportive. She was proud of her grandaughters. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Special thanks to Dr. Janet Green.

At Norma’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital, 2nd Floor Transition Care Unit.
