Norman Dennis McLaren

November 14, 1937 - July 28, 2022
In loving memory ~
Norm passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 28th, 2022.
Norm was born in Vancouver and raised in North Vancouver and Victoria. He played soccer with the MicMacs, a team managed by his mother, Marion. Norm was well known and respected throughout Campbell River and Comox Valley. In Campbell River he served as Manager of CIBC then owner of Ideal Grocery and subsequently the founding Executive Director of Campbell River Tourism. Norm was subsequently the Executive Director of the Comox Valley Economic Development Society. Norm was proud of the role he played in the Chamber of Commerce movement. In 1978 he was awarded Jr. Chamber International Senator and Life Member number 26494. In 1982 he was the BC Chamber Provincial President. He was named Campbell River's Citizen of the Year in 1973. Norm retired to Sunnydale Golf Course where he served as President and spent many hours golfing with his friends (8 hole-in-ones!).
Predeceased by father, Richard McLaren, mother Marion McLaren, sisters Marva McLaren, Bonnie Tytler, Bea Forsythe, and brother Don McLaren.
Survived by his wife and best friend Jill, sons Daniel (Roberta), Loren (Mairi) Mallett, and Alan Oakley, grandsons Sam and Connor, granddaughters Katie and Sarah, and brother Richard McLaren.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 27th, 2022 at 1:30pm at Piercy's Funeral Home 440 England Ave, Courtenay BC. Service followed by a Wake at Crown Isle Resort (Club House).
