August 24, 1933 - October 4, 2019
Norman was born in MacDonald Manitoba between the barn and the front porch. Norman joined the Air Force at 17, worked on a Seismic crew in the Northwest Territories, as a mechanic in northern BC, and as a grader operator for the department of highways. At 23 he met and married Marienne Unrau and started a family. Always wanting to improve himself, he upgraded his education with various courses and went from grader operator to District Superintendent.
During this time the family moved all over BC and Norm made friends wherever he went. Always ready with a twinkle in his eye and a joke on his lips. He loved to golf and even organized an annual golf tournament for government employees at Christina Lake. The stories are legend.
After retirement Norm and Marienne moved to Courtenay and enjoyed many years with family close by.
In 2016, Marienne passed away and Norman began a new but brief chapter of his life.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep with family nearby. Norman leaves behind his son Gordon (Peggy) McRae, daughter Candice (Bill) Larson, grandchildren Shauna Andrews & Joshua McRae, Heather Larson, Russel Larson (Lisa) and great-grandchildren Thomas & Shylah Andrews and Lucy & Nora Larson.
All will miss him greatly but rejoice that he is reunited with his bride in the arms of Jesus. There will be no service at this time.
