Patrick Joseph Connor passed away at home on July 5, 2007 at the age of 69 with his family by his side. Pat will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Dianne; son Kevin (Kuniko); daughter Tara (Frederic); three delightful grandchildren: Tristan, Claire and Kai; brothers: Denis (Della) and Terry (Moira); sister Maureen; brother-in-law Val; 2 nephews, 4 nieces and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Ella Mae in 2000.

Pat was born in Arcola, Sask in 1938. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to the Victoria area where he lived until attending UBC. After earning a BSc (Forestry) in 1962, he worked for the forest industry for Crown Zellerbach in Courtenay and the Queen Charlotte Islands and for Rayonier on northern Vancouver Island. In 1972, he joined Eurocan Pulp and Paper in Ootsa Lake and later transferred to Kitimat where he rose to President before retiring in 1991.

His retirement in Comox was filled with fishing, golfing and enjoying nature, music and reading. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will also be remembered for his sense of responsibility, determination and strong work ethic.

An informal gathering to celebrate Pat’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 1470 Jackson Drive, Comox from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A donation may be made in Pat’s memory to the Vancouver Island Lodge of the Canadian Cancer Society, 2202 Richmond Rd., Victoria, BC, V8R 4R5 or to the Comox Valley Hospice Society, PO Box 3193, Courtenay, BC V9N 5N4.
