Paul Michael Young

November 23, 2019

August 17, 1970 - November 23, 2019
It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we announce the loss of our Paul. He left us suddenly and quietly at home in Bowser, BC. As an active and passionate soccer player, his death from sudden cardiac arrest, a result of coronary artery disease, came as a great shock to everyone.
Born in Port Alberni, BC, Paul was a lifelong traveller. After graduating from ADSS in 1988 and studying journalism at Douglas College, he stretched the globe meeting people, sharing stories and writings of an incredibly colourful, adventurous and compassionate life. His passion for travel took him from the mountains of BC as a Rap-attack Forest Fighter, to war torn Afghanistan, through the Middle East, Asia, Europe - and his most beloved Africa: across the continent, down the Congo River and finally to the beaches of Tanzania, setting up a safari company. Although Paul was born with a profound case of wanderlust, his love of family always brought him home to us.
Paul will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Lisa and their beautiful daughter Myla, his devoted parents Doris and Gary, his brother and best friend, Steve (Kathy), big brother, Dave (Arvella), proud sister, Keri and his greatest fans: his nephews and niece, Zack, Mac, Liam and Emmy, and his extended family and friends across the globe.
A celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm. Saturday, January 25th 2019 at the Port Alberni Black Sheep Rugby Club, 3460 Argyle Street, Port Alberni BC. Please join us for a slideshow of Paul's wonderful life with a pint, and be prepared to play in an impromptu Everton FC vs Liverpool FC game. Wear one of the colours if you choose.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's name to his favourite charity, Doctors without Borders or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
