Paul Prosper

Despins

September 24, 1930 ~ December 05, 2007

It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of our Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, after a struggle with diabetes complications.

Paul leaves behind Doreen, his devoted wife of 54 years, three daughters, Mary-Ellen Hutter (Bob) of Campbell River, Cheryl Whalley (Gerald) and Valerie Despins (Dick) of Sayward.  Grandchildren Derek, Darcy, Paris, Tessa, Shawn, Shannon and Mark. Two great grandchildren Pearl and Michaela.

Paul is also survived by brother Roland Despins (Joyce) of Sayward and sisters Denise Taylor (Doug) of Campbell River and Lorraine Oliver (Gary) of Lake Cowichan, and many nieces and nephews.

Paul worked for Elk River Timber and M&B for many years before becoming a salvage truck owner/operator. He and Doreen own the Salmon River Motel and have for many years. Paul loved to dance to big band music.  Hunting and especially fishing he enjoyed.  He was a colorful and quick-witted character with many stories to tell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 15, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sayward Heritage Hall, 1257 Sayward Road.
