Pauline Elizabeth Irving

IRVING - Pauline Elizabeth passed away on March 28, 2007 at the age of 84. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert “Bob” Irving. She is also survived by her daughter, Barbara Jean (Charles) Garvin of Surprise, AZ and her son, Wayne Robert (Linda) of Comox; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Pauline will also be remembered by her brother, Arnold “Bud” Hughes of Edmonton, AB; brother-in-law, Harvey Gundry of Watrous, SK and sisters-in-law, Mariam (Bob) Storey of London, ON, Madeline Irving of Scotstown, QC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pauline was born and raised in East Angus, QC. She married Robert Irving in 1942 and they shared their lives together in East Angus, Simi Valley, CA and later resided in Comox in 1986. They shared residence at the Extended Care Unit in St. Joseph’s Hospital since the fall of 2004. Pauline was known for her excellent nursing skills and community support projects with the Sherbrook and Simi Valley Hospitals. Her favorite past times were traveling, baking, cooking and opening her home to many family and friends. She will always be remembered for her wit, charm, laughter and playing practical jokes.

The Irving family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the medical support of Dr. Eva Hemmerich and the care of all the staff at ECU who have created a loving home environment for Pauline and Bob. A public graveside service will be held to celebrate Pauline’s Life at the Courtenay Civic Cemetery on Saturday, April 14th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Al Pope officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Pauline’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Extended Care Unit.
