November 29, 1920 - March 11, 2022
Pearl Thomson, born Margaret Isabel Mortimer, a long time resident of Cumberland, has died at 101. She was born November 29 1920 in Calgary, lived in Scotland as a child and came back to Canada to live in 1930. She died at Veterans Memorial Lodge at Broadmead in Victoria on March 11, 2022.
Pearl was the loving wife and companion of Jack for 53 years. She was a devoted and amazing mother to Jackie, Ron, Art and Lynne, as well as to their spouses.
She was the best Grandma imaginable to her fiercely loved grandchildren Jeffrey, Jennifer, Celia, Matthew, Brady (deceased), Rory, Nick, Nikola, Claire and Dylan.
She was the proud great grandmother of 11 and in the final months of her life a great, great grandmother to Liam.
She loved and was best friends with her siblings Pat, Arthur, Ian, Sally, Sue and Norrie, all sadly gone before her. She will always be the beloved Aunty Pearl to so many in the Comox Valley, as part of the extended Mortimer and Baird families.
Pearl was a woman who loved every day, loved life and loved everyone around her, perhaps the secret to her longevity. In every phase of her life, she lived every moment to the fullest, with her lovely smile and shining eyes. That is how we will remember her.
A service of remembrance is planned at Weird Church, Cumberland on April 9 at 2:00 pm; reception immediately following in The Buchanan Room, Cultural Centre.
No flowers or donations; remember Pearl in your own way.
