Peter passed away peacefully in Calgary on April 2, 2009. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.
Born and raised in the Comox Valley, Peter spent many years there as a builder and developer. He took great pride in the homes that he designed and built and he always had an eye for adding that 'street appeal'. In 1998, Peter ventured off to Calgary, Alberta and from there he worked at many locations across Alberta and British Columbia as Superintendent on many large-scale projects, primarily for Clark Builders and most recently, for Graham Construction and Engineering.
Peter was predeceased by his mother, Gerda and his brother, Reinhard. Peter is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Darlene; his father, Rudolf; his brother Jurgen (Janice); and his five children - Kristy (Duane), Kelly, Matt, Joelle, and Steffie. He also leaves behind three granddaughters as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many extended family members. Peter will be dearly missed by his friends and colleagues in the construction industry, especially his friends at Clark Builders in Edmonton, Alberta. He was admired and respected for his loyalty, his integrity, his exceptional work ethic, and his commitment to all of his endeavours.
Peter enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing on the island and in the interior of B.C. He enjoyed playing the guitar, reading, going out for dinner, and spending tranquil time in the garden. He also loved exploring the wilderness of the Fort St. James, B.C. area with extended family members. Peter thrived on his many adventures that he had while travelling and working across western Canada with Darlene.
We will always remember the way that Peter's gentle soul, his quiet strength, and his generousity touched all of the people around him and we will always treasure the way that his beautiful smile, his sparkly eyes, and his wonderful sense of humour lit up our lives.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Chaudry and the medical staff of Unit 57, Stem Cell Replacement Unit, at the Calgary Foothills Medical Centre.

A Celebration of Peter's life will take place on Friday, May 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Kingfisher Resort, 4330 Island Highway, Courtenay, British Columbia.
