September 26, 1930 - December 26, 2018
After a brave battle with cancer, Peter passed away peacefully with dignity at the Comox Valley Hospital on Dec.26. 2018 at the age of 88. His beloved wife Young Sook was by his side.

He was a wonderful husband to Young Sook, and a loving father and grandfather to his family. Predeceased by brother Chris and sister Margot, Peter is survived by his wife Young Sook and her children So Young(John), Joy(Richard), Sophia(Jason), Kevin(Helen)and grandchildren Aimee, Danielle, Jonathan, Nathan, Caitlin, Ethan and Owen. He also leaves behind his children Fred(Julie), Wendy(George), Lori and grandchildren Shawn, Todd, Riley, Brendan, Leah and Cameron, 3 great-grandchildren and extended family.

Born in Olds, Alberta, Peter joined the army at 17 and served in Korea for 2years during the Korean War with the P.P.C.L.I .

After he came back from Korea, he joined the Vancouver Police Department, leaving in 1966 to pursue a career in business. Peter was very active in the Korean Veterans Association, serving in many capacities including that of the National President and the coordinator for the Korea Revisit Program for veterans, bereaved family and grandchildren. He loved hosting and cooking for his famous annual backyard BBQs for the Korean War Veterans. He made many trips to Korea, taking care of the KVA matters.

In 2012, Peter was awarded The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal and in 2017 the Order of Civil Merit by the President of Republic of Korea.

Peter was also very proud of his Danish heritage and was a passionated traveler.

He made frequent trips to visit family in Denmark and travelled extensively with the International Police Association, creating friendships around the world.

He travelled all over the world with his wife Young Sook until his health stopped him, and spent many afternoons with family and friends, serving his famous menu of slow-cooked ribs and steak, along with his favourite Danish beer.

Peter, his bursting laughter, his high-fives instead of good-byes, giving $5 to grandchildren for every "A" on their final report cards, watching his grandson playing football with Comox Valley Raiders, sitting together in the backyard discussing politics while having BBQ pork and beer, will be greatly missed.

Special thanks to his wonderful doctors, his family doctor, Dr. Dustin Falk, Dr. Jeff Zorn of the North Island Urology, and his cardiologist in Victoria, Dr. Lauren Dewart of the Western Cardiologist Association. Thank you for all your excellent and professional medical care for Peter.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Nanaimo on April 12. For details please email memorialforpeter@gmail.com or call 1-604-521-4803.
