BODIEN, Phyllis Maud "Bill"

Beloved mother to Amanda (John and John (Yok Leng), passed away on February 20, 2010 at the age of 92. Predeceased in 1999 by her husband, W/C (Ret'd) H.E. "Joe" Bodien DSO, DFC, CD, and her older brothers Lloyd and Laurence, she is survived not only by Amanda and John, but also by her four grandchildren: Camille, Chantal, Adrian and Dane. "Bil" (her nickname from childhood) was born to Dafydd and Isobel Roberts on March 27, 1917, and grew up in Penarth, Wales. She drove an ambulance during the Blitz in London at the beginning of World War Two. She subsequently joined the Royal Air Force, and served as a Code and Cypher officer for the duration of that war. A devoted military wife, she lived all over Europe and Canada, and travelled extensively. She loved entertaining, and was a consummate and sparkling hostess. She also was an avid sewer and knitter - copying the latest styles out of fashion magazines. Bill enjoyed her reputation for being glamourous and didn't ever like to let that side down, even when in her 90's. Her family would like to express profound gratitude and appreciation to Dr. David Bowler, the fabulous staff at Glacier View Lodge, the former Laurel Lodge, and St. Joseph's ER and 3rd Floor, for the kind and compassionate care Bill received. There will be no service; however, as Bill had a deep love for all animals and was never without a dog or cat, a donation to the local SPCA branch (or animal welfare organization of choice) is something that would have made her very, very happy.
