Pieter was very active throughout his life in the Masonic Lodge. A proud Freemason, he was a member of Tyee Lodge #66, Preceptory, Past Master and Past Grand Master, Tsimpsian Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.
A man of many talents, he was self-employed as a carpenter, boat builder, mechanic, truck driver, caretaker and baker! In his leisure time, he enjoyed both salt water and fresh water fishing. Pieter was a kind, warm and generous person, although somewhat opinionated and loved to argue the political scene of the day. He was a very well read and intelligent man, who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
