OSSTENBRINK, Pieter
Of Courtenay, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Sunday, September 19th, 2010, aged 85. He was predeceased by his wife Maria Gerardina (nee Suiker) and is survived by his loving family, sons Gordon A. Oostenbrink (Lisa Gaudette) of Courtenay, B.C. and Peter Oostenbrink (Anita) of Terrace, B.c.; daughter Joann M. Oostenbrink (Chico Johnston) of 70 Mile House, B.C.; grandchildren Christopher Davidson, Caroline Oakley, Ashley Oostenbrink, Anna Oostenbrink, Taren Oostenbrink, Cheyenne Janes and Cody Janes; great grandchildren Nathaniel Davidson, Marcus Davidson and Dominick Nelson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Pieter was very active throughout his life in the Masonic Lodge. A proud Freemason, he was a member of Tyee Lodge #66, Preceptory, Past Master and Past Grand Master, Tsimpsian Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.
A man of many talents, he was self-employed as a carpenter, boat builder, mechanic, truck driver, caretaker and baker! In his leisure time, he enjoyed both salt water and fresh water fishing. Pieter was a kind, warm and generous person, although somewhat opinionated and loved to argue the political scene of the day. He was a very well read and intelligent man, who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
