In loving memory ~
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Raeburn Pridy on April 2, 2025.
Born in Comox to John and Eva, Raeburn spent most of his life in the Comox Valley. In 1967, he began his studies at the University of Victoria but after two years decided that university wasn't the right path for him at the time. He went on to work in various trades throughout the Valley, Port Hardy, and Kitimat before settling in Royston with his wife, Wendy, where together they built their home and raised their children, Reed and Raena.
In time, Raeburn returned to university, earning his Bachelor of Education from UBC in 1988. Upon returning home, he began his teaching career at Courtenay Junior and later at Isfeld Secondary, where he taught until retirement. Respected for his dedication, Mr. Pridy consistently went above and beyond to support his students, leaving a positive and lasting impact on many. His kind and patient nature, paired with a dry sense of humour, earned him respect and genuine affection from both students and colleagues alike.
When not in the school shop, Rae could be found in his own workshop—building, fixing, or tinkering with something. He was always up for a challenge, constantly juggling multiple projects, and never hesitated to help others.
In later years Raeburn was a cherished member of The Cumberland Community Church. Left to carry on his memory are his wife Wendy, children Reed (Sarah), Raena (John), grandchildren; Levi, Audra, Aoife, Rían, his sister Geri and many nieces and nephews.
