November 8, 1926 - April 12, 2019
Jim Messer, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2019. He was surrounded by loving family and spent his last day soaking in the sunshine on the beautiful deck at the Views in Comox.
He is survived and lovingly missed by Tito his life-long partner and wife of 70 years; daughters Shannon; Colleen (Bruce); sons Rick (Bridget); and Chris; & grandchildren Marlon, Cassandra, Rebecca, Kira, Stephanie and Sasha. Also survived by his brother, Walter Messer (Doris).
He moved his family to the Island in 1966 where he enjoyed many active years in the logging industry in Gold River and Zeballos. He was handy at carpentry, built several of his family homes; he customized the White Dawn, a 38' Westsail boat and enjoyed weekends and holidays with his family exploring the West Coast.
After retirement in 1991 he moved to the Comox Valley, took up hobby farming and joined the Old Time Fiddle group and later The Valley Echos. He was a strong, practical man with an open mind. His life was rich with variety, good music, good friends and a close family that misses him very much.
He requested no funeral service but a toast if he's in your thoughts.
