Raymond Frank Jr. "Lucky" Shaw

It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to Raymond Frank Shaw Jr. Lucky passed away on January 6, 2022 at the age of 61, with his sisters Rose and Patty by his side as he took his last breaths. Ray spent a lot of time with his very good friends Rose and Richard Stenabaugh int he last 30+ years they were also with Ray as much as possible in his final days.
Ray is predeceased by his father Ray, mother Eleanor and brother Les. Survived by sisters Rose McLeod and Patty (Lee) Hawley and brother Terry. Nieces, nephew and great nephews, Jackie (Brian) and Cole; Curtis (Shannon); Heather (Aaron), Hawkslee and Waaverly; Jenette (Joel); Chanetelle (Quinn), Aurora and Holden.
Ray was born in Chilliwack but lived most of his life in Courtenay although he did spend time in Amsterdam and Spain. After his time in Europe he bought a house and moved to Oak Burn, Manitoba. But the winters were cold and he returned to Courtenay.
Ray loved to read and write poetry. He was working on a colouring book for children which he was really enjoying.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and the entire staff at the Comox Valley North Island Hospital for the excellent care given to Ray during his hospital stay and making his final days as comfortable as possible. We truly appreciate your care and compassion shown to Ray and our family.
For those that would like to make a donation in Ray's name, his charities of choice were the same charities as his parents, Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Association or the Eureka Coffee House.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ray on April 9, 2022 at the Native Son's Hall, 360 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC at 1:00 p.m.
Due to Covid restrictions we were unable to have a Celebration of Life for Ray's mother, Eleanor, when she passed in August 2021. The family has chosen to have a Celebration of Life for both Ray and his mother, Eleanor on Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 p.m. at the Native Sons Hall.
