On Wednesday September 23 2020, Reginald Magson, loving husband and father, passed away at age 90. Reg was born on 18 November 1929 in Coventry, England to Reginald and Dulcey (Ramsey) Magson.
Apprenticed as a machinist his lifelong love of Spitfire airplanes was born when he worked for Westland Aircraft just after World War II.
Reginald married Margaret in 1954 and together they emigrated to Kitimat, BC in 1956. He went to work for Alcan Aluminum working there for 14 years becoming the Planning Dept. foreman. In Kitimat he passed on his love for the outdoors to his son Ken. He spent much of his spare time fishing, snowshoeing and any other reason to be out in the bush.
Reg and Margaret made a massive life change in 1970 when they moved to Denman Island and became the joint owners of the Denman General Store. They sold the store in 1974 and moved to the home where they have lived since. Reg kept busy though, being instrumental in forming the Denman Island Fire Department and became their first Fire Chief. He was a much loved school bus driver from 1972-1995. To his last days adults whom he had taken to school as children would greet him on the streets. He was an avid gardener, loved the deer on his property, and was also a local small engine mechanic in his spare time for many years. Known for his "can do" attitude Reg could make just about anything work from the parts he could find on his property or make them his self in his small workshop.
Survived by his wife Margaret, his son Ken, daughter in law Patricia, granddaughter Eilisha, and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
