June 6, 2018
It is with sadness but many wonderful memories that we announce the unexpected passing of Renate (Nana) Buchholz Micksch on June 6, 2018.

She was an amazing mother, thoughtful grandparent, generous and inviting friend, talented artist, accomplished florist and master gardener. Renate came to Canada from Germany in the early 1960's to be an au pair in Victoria BC. There she met her lifelong partner, Peter and raised three daughters before moving to Courtenay in 2007. Following the death of her husband, Renate found solace in the love and devotion of her family and was able to remain in her home, tending to her garden.

Renate will be lovingly remembered by her many friends and family. She will remain in the hearts Stefanie and Jeff Donohoe, Annette Micksch and Bruno Munger, and Julie Micksch and Russell Blake, her grandchildren, Matthew, Rachel and Jonathan Donohoe, Andrew and Matthew Munger, and favorite grand dog Elly; Renate's brothers and sisters: Brigitte (in Langley), Marlis, Elke, Harald and Uli (in Schwefe, Germany) have extended their thoughts, prayers and memories to the Micksch and Gehry families residing in Canada.

Renate's family would like to send their deepest gratitude to all those who helped her remain in her home over the last two years. Too many names to list but you know who you are. Mom and her family could not have done it without you.

A Celebration of Life for Renate Micksch will be held on July 29, 2018 in the Comox Valley. We invite family and friends. Please RVSP to rmicksch@gmail.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to AGTS online through Canada Helps and search "Anderton Therapeutic Gardens Society"
