SCOTT

Robert Cameron

July 2, 1948 - February 17, 2009

Following a full, adventurous life and a courageous battle with brain cancer, Robert Cameron Scott, 60, passed away on February 17, 2009 in Victoria, BC. Loved husband and best friend of Susan Smith, Robert will also be missed by his daughter, Vanessa Scott, and the many people whose lives he touched with his warmth, enthusiasm and laughter. A lifelong teacher, sailor and writer who "lived his dreams", Rob was born in Vancouver on July 2, 1948. A graduate of Simon Fraser University, he returned to SFU after his K-12 teaching career to become an associate in the SFU Faculty of Education.

Rob retired to the Comox Valley following "the journey of a lifetime" in 2001-2003, when he and his family sailed along the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts of Europe. Rob then combined his passions and became a sailing instructor for North Island College, while also skippering yachts and serving as a member of the Deep Bay Yacht Club.

His inspired outlook and larger-than-life energy will live on in our hearts and memories. A celebration of Rob's life will be held in July. In Rob's memory, we ask that you visit www.notankers.ca and sign the petition to help protect the BC coast that Rob loved and explored throughout his life.
