In loving memory ~
"Bob" passed away peacefully in Comox at the age of 94 after a long and happy life. In the early 1950s, Bob traveled from his birthplace Keewatin, Ontario, to Victoria on holiday to visit his brother Cliff. Captivated by the West Coast, he decided to stay and began working as a butcher in a shop on Fort Street. Eventually, he went to work for Canada Safeway and remained with that company until he retired. Later, his younger brother Orville also moved to Victoria and introduced Bob to his future wife, Florence. They were married for 54 happy years experiencing many of life's joys including family, golfing, camping, old timers hockey, cruises, travelling, and winters in Palm Springs.
Dad is predeceased by his wife Florence in 2011 but stayed on in their family home in Duncan where he met his dear friend Val who provided many years of companionship up until dad's dementia required he move to Comox to be close to his daughter for support. He spent 2.5 years at The Views Providence Living where he was happy and loved.
Dad was blessed to become "Papa" later in life to three wonderful and cherished grandchildren whom he adored.
Dad is survived by his daughter Marilyn (Mark) Ord, son Kevin (Dahlia), his beloved grandchildren, Kelley, Kacey and Davin, his special friend Val Bjork as well as brothers Cliff (Pat), Norm (Ginger), sister Charlene (Ken), and sisters-in-law Val Coulter and Marilyn Gerrad along with many nieces, and nephews. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at The Views Providence Living for the care provided dad during his time there. At dad's request there will be no funeral service. We were able to celebrate dad's life with him when Kevin and family plus brother Cliff with his son Murray were able to visit this summer.
Holding hands with Flo once again.
