Robert Heron Lamb, passed away on Thursday May 7 2020. At The Views, at St Joseph.
Born in Lancaster, England, September 6th 1926. Son of Ethel and Thomas Lamb.
Educated Lancaster Grammar School, until 1942, when he went work in the family business. His father being a master butcher and was short staffed due to the English efforts in WW11.
In early 1944, Bob volunteered for the army. Serving 4 years in the armoured corp, reconnaissance regiment, finishing in the Hussars as a squadron signals sergeant.
Hussars demobbed in 1948 and Bob returned to the family butchering business. During this period Bob developed entrepreneur skills and grew the business from 2 shops to 5.
He married Helen Hitchen in 1954 and daughter Christine was born 1957. Helen died in 1975. Bob enjoyed rugby, rowing and rally driving, where he became a respected national and international rally driver.
Bob sold business in January 1977 and emigrated to Canada and married June Sanderson July 1977. Together Bob and June moved from Katrine Ontario to Comox in 1981. Bob had a second career as brewmaster at the Leeward Pub Brewery until 1991, a position he thoroughly enjoyed.
Living in Comox Valley, Bob was able to develop longstanding friends with whom he enjoyed golf and fishing.
Bob is survived by grandson, Christopher Midgley of Lancaster England. And stepdaughter, Shawn of Ironton Ohio, and Scott Sanderson of Milton Ontario.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
