Rod was born in Sussex, England and immigrated to Canada December 8, 1950 and lived in Brantford, Hamilton and Dundas, Ontario. He joined the RCAF Aug. 31, 1960 and became a financial clerk, a job he was very good at and loved doing. While stationed at RCAF Namao (Edmonton), he met and married Barbara Kaszuba and together they raised 2 beautiful daughters Darlene and Catherine.
During his career, the family was posted at Comox, BC, Gypsumville, Manitoba and North Bay, Ontario, where Rod served a tour of duty in Ismalia with the United Nations. He was then stationed in Trenton, Ontario and finally back to Comox, where he finally retired after 26 years. Rod joined the Reserves and served 3 years at HMCS Quadra for 3 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, he took 5 cruises, travelling to Europe, Reno and Las Vegas. Rod purchased acreage and raised poultry, rabbits and had a great vegetable garden.
Rod was an avid 5 pin bowler, winning at both the Provincial and National level.
Playing darts, different card games were some of his many pleasures.
Rod's life changed in 2008 when he was diagnosed with a rare disease; Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy (PSP). He was a trooper, coping with it until he finally succumbed to it.
Rod will be lovingly remembered by Barbara, his wife of 53 years, daughters Darlene St. John, Catherine Peters, grandchildren Connor and Skylar St. John, sisters, Judith Taylor, Jennifer McAuley, brother David Peters and their families.
Rod was predeceased by his parents Peter John and Joan Marjorie nee Drummond.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Comox Presbyterian Church, 725 Aspen Rd on Thursday, April 26 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ted Hicks officiating.
