Stewart, Ron (Butch), passed August 9th, 2019. Born July 16, 1949, in Kitchener Ontario to Doug Stewart and Gene Sharples (nee Schroder). His ashes will be spread on the Oyster River at a later date. We thank Michelle Larochelle and family, for unending kindnesses and unstinting service to him. Many thanks to the complete staff of all classifications, North Island Hospital Courtenay whose service and caring was a wonder to behold, and appreciated so much. In the early years, Butch cut quite a swath through Kitchener and Ontario He spent most of his life on his beloved Vancouver Island. He served in the PPWC in Gold River, Mine-Mill Local 598, Longshoremen, and others. Butch was dedicated to working people and the less fortunate. He had a strong passion for the First Nation's people and reconciliation. For the Salvation Army Mission's and the Mennonite Central Committee values. He was generous without reservation.
He would wish us all to be kinder to each other. Not wanting any ceremony or fuss he has wished all of us "Happy Trails - Peace and Love."
