Jones, Ronald Martin
May 23, 1934 - December 9, 2004
Born in Cumberland General Hospital to Janet and Harold Jones, Ron graduated from Courtenay High and from the Vancouver School of Art, then traveled in Europe and worked in London at the Old Vic Theatre and the BBC for several years. Upon returning to Vancouver he earned a diploma in psychiatric nursing, and worked until retirement at Woodlands Hospital.
Ron died peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver after a two-year struggle with lung cancer. A sensitive, creative, funny and compassionate man, he will be long remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Predeceased by his parents, Ron is survived by his partner of 29 years Bryan Olson of North Vancouver, sister Marilyn Simms of Kye Bay, aunt Audrey Marshall of Campbell River, nephews Graham Simms and Ted Simms, and their families.
