Ronald Murray Kennedy, age 61years, passed away on November 13, 2020 at the North Island Hospital, Comox Valley. Ron was born on April 26, 1959, at St. Josephs Hospital, Comox BC.
At the time of his passing Ron was living in Merville, British Columbia with his wife Debbie Kennedy. He lived many of his childhood and young adult years in Gold River.
Ron worked as a faller for many years with Fedgi & Gunderson. By far, of any job Ron had over his lifetime, his work in the bush as a logger was one that fed his love for the outdoors and his appreciation for nature and the land. He valued the many friendships and camaraderie of his fellow workers.
Ron enjoyed the outdoors as part of his lifestyle. He loved to fish, hunt and go camping. He shared this passion with his wife and family. Ron loved hitching up the boat and taking his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and whoever could get in the boat fishing or camping. Ron was a genius at turning a flat spot in the bush into a kids outdoor paradise with tree swings, forts, diving boards and docks. Debbie recalls many sweet memories with Ron camping, fishing and hunting. She notes Ron enjoyed including other people in there outdoor adventures. He especially enjoyed the excitement of someones first catch.
Ron was known for his kindness and ingenuity. He always made time to lend a helping hand or have a cup of coffee with you. He shared his time generously. If something needed to be fixed, moved, cleaned up, built or created - Ron was the 'go to guy'. Whatever task or project Ron took on, it was done well and correctly. He was a man you could count on. Ron had an intense love and commitment to his family. Whether Ron was holding one of his newborn grandchildren, watching his sons play ball, fishing with a nephew, or quietly praying - his actions were always grounded in love for each of his family members. On one occasion a family member thanked Ron for his support. His response was simply, "It's what we do. We're family."
The family mourns the loss of a wonderful man, but none mourn so deeply as his wife Debbie. Ron has been the rock that has been steady and sure for her for more than 30 years. His hands have lifted her head in times of trouble and pointed her face toward the light when darkness was all consuming. Ron has been the love of her life, and she the love of his.
Ron is survived by his wife, Debbie Marie Kennedy; Children, Tanya, Kevin and Christopher; Grandchildren, Kaitlind, Jacob, Zoey, Angelina, Kaleb, Fiona and Karter; Parents, Alan and Ellen Kennedy; Siblings, Doug Terry, Lisa and Steven.
On behalf of the family Debbie would like to extend her thanks to the many people who have supported the family during this very difficult time.
Given Covid19 restrictions, the family will not be holding a celebration of life until a later date.
