Hazlett (nee Bowen)

Ruth Mary

August 29, 1925 ~ December 8, 2009

With her beloved husband by her side, Ruth passed away peacefully on December 8th in St. Joseph’s Hospital. Ruth was predeceased by her brother William Joseph Bowen, her nieces Deyl Ann and Brenda Mary. She is survived by her devoted husband Clifford Carlyle Hazlett; nephew Clark Hazlett, and his wife Stella, great niece Renee Thomas (nee Wilkins) and her husband Corey, great nephew Devin Wilkins, great nephew Dan Wilkins; great nephew Ezra Ptolemy and his wife Elaine, and great nephew Evan Ptolemy, and his wife Kellon

Ruth was known to many, if not most as “Aunt Ruth”. She was a most generous and loving person who accepted anyone as they were and took them under her wing. She spent decades volunteering for the Girl Guides of Canada, and over 50 years of service with St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. As a devout Catholic, she was a member of the Catholic Women’s League since 1961, was honored as a CWL life member in 1988, was the BC Provincial President from 1990-1992, and the BC Provincial Life Member Liaison from 1994-1996. Ruth was known as a very devoted loving and feisty member of the League.

Aunt Ruth was such a positive influence for so many people in so many ways. She had an incredible sense of humor, a quick wit and a wonderful laugh. Her vivacious nature and positive outlook inspired by anyone who came near. We will miss her ability to see the good in any situation, her fierce loyalty to her friends and family, her lovely yet boisterous laugh, her way of always making you feel good about yourself, her zest for life and knack for staying young while aging gracefully; and we will miss her “purple-ness and butterfly-ness”.

Aunt Ruth was loved by so many and had a great and grand circle of beautiful friends who are too many to mention here, yet will never be forgotten.

May you rest in peace beloved Ruth.
