In loving memory ~
Sandra was the 5th child of 10 siblings to be blessed with parents Daniel (Dan) and Genevieve (Genny) St. Amand. Born in Victoria Harbour Ontario. Survived by siblings Pat, Gen, John, Billy, Susan, Brenda, Mary and Denise. Along with many in laws, nieces, nephews and Great nieces & nephews living near & far.
Predeceased by Dad, Mom oldest brother Mike, sister-in-law Patsy, brother-in-law Bill Macfarlane and the Loves of Sandra's Life Len Fleming, and her 3 cats Tippy Baby & Bobby.
Sandra moved to Courtenay BC after retiring in 2006 from BCIT Downtown Campus in Vancouver where she worked for over 30 years. Sandra lived a pretty happy, independent life and traveled to many countries & loved meeting people. She loved music and could be found dancing it up on many occasions on the dancefloor!
After retiring at 60 years old Sandra bought a beautiful house in Courtenay and could be found tinkering in her gorgeous gardens, or walking around the Courtenay Airpark feeling blessed to see the beauty of the mountains, ocean & trees that surrounded her. Sandy also had a knack for interior design & put her talents to work in her beautiful new home. Sandra loved her home & family and welcomed family and friends to come stay with her on many occasions; especially for family reunions.
Sadly years later Sandra was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and her sister Denise moved from Vancouver to live with Sandra to help keep her living at home for over 2 years until that heartbreaking disease became too advanced to manage living at home and Sandy was sadly admitted to Glacier View Lodge here in Courtenay where she lived for the past 6 months.
Thank you to All her Living Angels at Cumberland Lodge & Glacier View Lodge (you know who you are) who gave Sandra that extra love she so deeply needed... We will always be so grateful for everything you did for her while in your care.
Also Thank you to the Doctor, Nurses, Care Aides at the Comox Valley Hospital in the Emergency Room on October 13th and to the third floor A unit who helped care for Sandra in her final few days of life.
There will be no service at Sandra's request. If you would like to make a donation in Sandra's name to the Alzheimer's Society of BC, the SPCA or Operation Smile which were all close to Sandra's heart.
Rest among the Angels
Dear Sister
We will listen for your
whispers on the wind.
