WELSH, Saxon (Sutherland)


Saxon passed away at Berwick Comox Valley retirement on November 16, 2010.


Born August 17, 1914, at Puntledge BC, daughter of Alexander John and Annie Elizabeth Sutherland. Schooled at Courtenay Elementary and Courtenay High School. Married Archibald Matthew Welsh on August 30, 1936 for 66 years.


Predeceased by her parents, her sister in law Josephine (Gerry) Bryden, her bother Robert (Effie and nephew Bruce) Sutherland and 3 sisters Margaret Sutherland, Dorothy (Robert) Hulsizer, Agnes (Arthur) Wilson and husband Archie in June of 2003.


Survived by daughters Sharon (Stanford) Shutes, Kamuela, Hawaii, Jane (Robert) Howland, Sooke BC, and Nancy (Lars) Larsen, Courtenay, 3 grand children, 4 great granddaughters and 3 great grandsons.


Saxon was one of the originals members of the Island Potters, enjoyed oil painting, knitting and traveling in the camper to the lakes fishing with Archie.


A special thank you to the nursing staff at Berwick who made her past few weeks very comfortable; Dr. John Fitzpatrick for his care and Ann Delaney for her two exceptional moves.


No service by request. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations maybe made in Saxon's name to St. Joseph's General Hospital Foundation, 2137 Comox Ave, Comox, BC V9M 1P2 or the charity of ones choice.


The gift of life, however dear must sometimes pass away. Yet love and memories remain external gifts that stay.
