Our hearts are saddened in the sudden passing of Shirley M Johnston (Hynes) on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Albert Gordon Johnston who passed December 2nd, 1992. Shirley was born and raised in NFLD which was her home until moving to the Comox Valley in 1987.
She leaves behind two children, son, Terry Johnston (Ann) and daughter, Cheryl Wedel (Matt) residing in the Comox Valley.
Grandchildren - Jeremy Johnston (Chasity), Kelly Morris (Dwight), Monika Jesus (Kevin), Ryan Wedel.
Her precious Great Grandchildren - Mason & Ava Johnston, Sophya & Malakai Jesus, Maxwell Morris.
Shirley is predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Hynes, stepmother Maude Hynes, sister Mabel and brother-in-law Ralph Reid, brother Wilbert Hynes, sister Pearl Hynes and brother Clyde Hynes.
Leaving to mourn with precious memories, her brother Scott Hynes (Betty), brother Melvin Hynes (Josephine), sister-in-Law Rhoda Hynes and step-sister Daphne Guy (Calvin).
She also leaves many nieces and nephews, too many to name, from the Hynes and Johnston families, along with many relatives and dear friends.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses for almost 65 years, Shirley shared her hope and strong faith of a time when here on earth there would be no more pain, sickness or death - Revelation 21:4.
Her Family would like to express our thanks to her many physicians, VIHA Health Care Providers, Life Labs, Ambulance Attendants, and the ER staff in their gentle, kind, and compassionate care she was given, especially in the last few days. There are too many of you to name, but you know who you are. Shirley felt the love of her family and friends from coast to coast, Newfoundland to British Columbia.
A virtual memorial will be held Saturday January 30, 2021 @ 2 pm. We will miss her and look forward to seeing her again.
