Born in Mayerthorpe Alberta, Silvia passed away on May 21, 2020 after being diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She was eternally grateful for her life and wanted to extend her compassionate voice of support for MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying) and for all those who made it possible for her to die with dignity.
The family would like to extend blessings and heart-felt thanks to Dr. Mateus, Dr. Reggler and to the nurses for their loving care and comfort.
Silvia was predeceased by her parents, Winnifred and Carl William Olson of Whitecourt, Alberta, and her brother Bill Olson. Silvia will be lovingly remembered by her brother Keith (Sharon) Olson, sister-in-law, Shirley Olson; nephews Brian (Louise) Olson, Doug (Judy) Olson), Ron (Jennifer) Olson, niece Connie Olson-Clark (Dan) and extended family.
Silvia loved being outside and could often be seen walking in Comox, her heart comforted by the beauty she recognized in her community. She was fiercely independent and believed in the value of taking responsibility for her life. Her favorite word was "choices," and her testament to a life well-lived was in her courageous final days.
Her lasting gift will be the memory of her gentle, kind spirit, and the peace she radiated.
