It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Stan in Edmonton, Alberta on January 8, 2009.

Survived by his wife, Gail, of 41 years; sons, Dan and Doug; daughters Catherine (Leif), Caroline and Marilee (Jack); grandchildren Kayle (Dave), Chris, Ryan, Tricia (Clayton), Jesse, Deanna (Chris), Jennifer (Curtis), Michael and Abby; great-grandchildren Kaytlynn, Alex, Alexa, Lucas, Brooke, Kelsi, Jason and Ben; as well as many cousins, one niece and three nephews, and many dear and treasured friends. He will be sadly missed.

Predeceased by his parents, Ede and Stan (1993); his son, Dale (1992); his brother, Larry (2000) and golfing buddies Joe McIntosh, Jim Gibson and Dave Warren.

Stan obtained his 'Certificate of Qualification in Auto Mechanics' in his mid teens, apprenticed with his father, Stan Sr., and continued practicing mechanics until his retirement in 1994.

Stan enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona. He also enjoyed gardening, was a sports enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time with his family. But, his favourite pasttime was playing golf with the 'Rat Pack' at Sunnydale Golf Club.

The family wishes to thank the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta for their compassion to the family and with their expert care of Stan. Also, big thanks goes out to West Jet's Customer Service Rep, Katie, for all of her assistance.

A Celebration of Stan's Life will be held at Sunnydale Golf Club on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 2 PM. All photos and stories are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
