April 10, 1931 - March 13, 2019
Stella Richards passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, surrounded by her immediate family, at the North Island Hospital in Courtenay, BC. Born April 10, 1931, to Edward and Mary Robinson in Manchester, England, Stella experienced WWII ordeals such as rationing, evacuations, and the Manchester Blitz. In 1958, Stella and her husband, Alan, moved to Montreal, Quebec, where she delighted in the diversity of fresh foods, raised three children, obtained a college degree, had a successful career, and spoke French with a Lancashire accent. Stella has loved every minute of her twenty-five years in the Comox Valley, and never tired of describing the weather to her snow-bound friends and relatives.

Stella will be greatly missed by her husband of sixty-four years, Alan Richards; children Carol, Colin, and Andrea Richards, and Andrea's husband Jeff; grandchildren Jessie, Taylor, Isaac, and Nathan; great-grandchildren Eamon and Reed; brother Lawrence Robinson; sister-in-law Kathleen Robinson; nieces Christine Davet and Louise Owens and their husbands; nephew John Robinson and his wife; and great-nieces and -nephews Charlotte, Luc, Thibault, Matthew, and Luke. She was predeceased by siblings Edward, Margaret, and Bernard Robinson, and by sisters-in-law Vera and Elizabeth Robinson.

Stella's family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the North Island Hospital staff for their exceptional and compassionate care over the last weeks of Stella's life. Donations made in Stella's honour to the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation (www.cvhealthcarefoundation.com) would be most appreciated.
