Christina Biswas (nee Zust) was born in Chur, Switzerland on Nov 28, 1934.
She passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at North Island Hospital in Courtenay on December 24, 2017 at age 83.
Christina is survived by her daughter Jasmine, her son Kumar (Cindy), and many nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered by her family in Canada and Switzerland, and her exceptional community of friends throughout Nova Scotia, and the Comox Valley.
Christina was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Nikhil Biswas, brothers Kobi and Edi, sisters Dorli and Annali, and her parents Johann and Dorthea.
Christina grew up in the mountainous region of Graubunden, Switzerland. She moved to Great Britain where she trained as a nurse and met and married her husband Nikhil. Together they traveled to many parts of the world, practicing medicine and raising their two children. Living in Great Britain, Africa, and Barbados, they eventually immigrated to Canada settling in Nova Scotia.
Christina resided in NS for 46 years, and in 2015, following the loss of her husband, she moved to the Comox Valley. Christina was a creative person that loved gardening, and painting. She enjoyed participating in the Letz Sing group, the Multicultural & Immigration Support Society, the Red Hat Society, and the d'Esterre Seniors Center.
She loved spending time in and around the mountains and ocean. Christina's friends and family remember her as a resilient, passionate, and fun-loving woman who loved being active and was always game for new adventures. Christina was young at heart and she never wanted to feel old.
It was her wish that there be no funeral service.
She was well loved by everyone who got to know her, and she will be greatly missed by all.
