Passed away peacefully on December 21, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox, B.C. at 89 years.

Sylvia was born in Fernie, B.C. on October 30, 1917. She lived in Vancouver from 1940 to 1998 when she moved to Courtenay and resided at Cummings Home.

She was predeceased in 1996 by John, her husband of 57 years. She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Arthur of White Rock, B.C., Ken (Sally) of Port Coquitlam, B.C., and Marlene (Scott) Campbell of Comox, B.C. She will be greatly missed by seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

While in the Vancouver area Sylvia was a member of the Daughters of England Lodge and actively involved in Square Dancing.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s for the excellent care which Sylvia received during her final days. We would also like to thank Evelyn Carruthers and the staff at Cummings Home for making her last 8 years most comfortable and enjoyable.

A Service of Remembrance in Celebration of her Life will be held at Comox Valley Funeral Home & Crematorium, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Dave Postal officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the B.C. Heart & Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon, PO Box 1225, Comox, B.C. V9N 7Z8 or to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, 2137 Comox Avenue, Comox, B.C. V9M 1P2.
