Tom was born in Trenton, Ontario and passed away at the Comox Valley Seniors Village on November 19, 2017 at the age of 81.
Tom is predeceased by Norma Diane Hearns, his loving wife of over 56 years.
He is survived by son Thomas Alan Hearns, daughters Lianne Czindl (George) and Lori Whitlock (Rob), grandchildren Cassandra, Cody, Jennifer, Christopher, Chelsey, Dawson and Austin and great grandchild Lauren.
Tom joined the Navy in 1955 and retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in Greenwood, NS in 1980. Upon his retirement Tom and his family moved to the Comox Valley.
Tom was a kind, loving, wonderful man who always had a smile and time to chat. If you lived in Tom's neighborhood you knew Tom. He had a never-ending wit and was always a gentleman. His retirement years were filled with many camping adventures both local and "down south". Tom loved being in the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
His family is comforted in knowing that their parents are together again.
Donations in Tom's memory made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC would be greatly appreciated.
A private cremation was held.
