Jan 27, 1951 - May 5, 2018
Val passed away from cancer on May 5th surrounded by family at Comox BC. She was born in Vancouver and grew up at Matsqui BC. She was an excellent student and was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Abbotsford Senior Secondary. After high school Val studied at the University of Victoria, and later completed a Diploma in Fine Arts at North Island College.

Val was an artist who loved drawing, painting and design. Theatre brought together these elements and became her major creative work. The people in the theatre community were also very important to her. For many years, she produced costumes and set designs for Comox Valley youth productions and Courtenay Little Theatre. She also served on the Board of CLT.

Family was very important to Val. Predeceased by her father, Ian Scott and mother, Thelma Scott, she is survived by her husband, Bill, her sisters, Linda (Kerry) Seale, Marnie DesJardins, and Brenda (John) Coghlin, and their families, her three children, Amanda (Rob) Zielinski, Eric (Natalie) Heath, and Frances (Bruno) Heath, as well as four grandchildren, Ava, Andrew, Vivian and Adam. Val was also 'Nana' to the children of her dear friend Shannon Shepley: Anthony, Keisha, Ana and Liam.

A Celebration of Life was held for her at Filberg Lodge Park on May 14. Donations in memory of Val can be made to the Comox Valley Hospice Society (http:// comoxhospice.com/).

Val's family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Hospice at the Views, and to Dr. Doug Anderson for their excellent and loving care for Val in her final days. Val would say, "make each day the best it can be" and will be remembered for her loving generosity. May she rest in peace.
