August 12, 1916 - September 14, 2009
Resident of the Comox Valley since 1965, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in Comox, British Columbia. She was predeceased by her spouse Mories W. Wellwood, sister Catherine (Roy) Hallett, brothers; Walter (Mathilda) Johnsen, Elvin Johnsen, Robert (Hazel) Johnsen and Arthur (Betty) Johnsen, her parents Peter and Jorgine (Christensen) Johnsen, sister-in-law Bessie Johnsen as well as nieces and nephews Sig Johnsen, Lillian Montay and Robert Johnsen. Vida is survived and will be dearly missed by her sons; John (Karen) Wellwood of Chilliwack, B.C., George (Peggy) Wellwood of Vernon, B.C. and Richard Wellwood of Comox, B.C., her daughter Anne (Richard) Brady of Kennewick, Washington, her grandchildren; Roger (Agnes) Brady, Chris (Stacy) Brady, Ryland (Andrea) Wellwood, Carl (Jennifer) Wellwood and Elizabeth Wellwood her great grandchildren; Jared and Marissa Brady, Lynden and Nate Wellwood and Sarah Brady, her brother Wilfred Johnsen of Kelowna as well as nieces and nephews; Hilma Fletcher, Betsy Geisenger, Peter E. Johnsen, Matthew Johnsen, Peter T. Johnsen, Louise Dodds and Judy Johnsen. Vida was a graduate of Royal Inland Hospital School of Nursing (1939) and worked in Operating Room Nursing in Kamloops, Trail, Vancouver, Nelson and Comox and in Home Care Nursing in Nelson and Medical Clinic Nursing in Comox. In her leisure time Vida enjoyed Bridge and Creative Writing. Donations made in Vida’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Vida’s life will take pace at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation & Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay on Saturday, September 19th, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.
