GLOVER, Violet Marion

1926 – 2006
Violet Marion Glover passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2006. Born July 10, 1926 in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan to William and Catherine MacKenzie and raised in Carlea, SK. Vi joined the Air Force in Winnipeg in 1943 and in 1947 moved to Vancouver, where she completed her Registered Nurse’s diploma at St. Paul’s Hospital.
She and Gordon were married on July 7, 1951 and moved to Woss Lake, where they resided for more than 35 years. Together they raised 8 children. In 1987 they moved to their retirement home in Union Bay. In 2004, Vi moved to Lacombe, AB until her passing. A highlight of Vi’s later years was her reunion, after 54 years, with her first born child, Charlotte.
Violet is the cherished mother of her large clan: Charlotte (Jeff) Krauser, Nancy (Jim) Knievel, Susan Glover, Gwen Glover, Bette (Dwayne) Axani, Annie Glover (Paul Berthelet), Bob (Carrie) Glover, Gordon Glover, Ed (Fiona) Glover, 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Vi also leaves to mourn her loss, brother Dick (Joy) MacKenzie, sisters Esther Haberman, Jean (Duncan) Reid, Margaret Adams and Sandy McLean, brother-in-law Jack (Lorraine) Glover, sister-in-laws Trudy Tetlock and Lu Glover.
Vi was preÂdeceased by her husband Gordon Glover in 1988.

A Service to celebrate Violet’s life will be held at Piercy’s Funeral Home Chapel, 440 England Avenue, Courtenay, B.C. on Saturday, June 24th at 10:00 a.m.
