Violet was born at the family farmhouse in Broadview, Saskatchewan on January 27, 1910. They moved to Sandwick in 1920 and Violet got her schooling at the old Sandwick School. Prior to the war she married Bill Whitehouse and in 1946 had their only son, Bill Jr.


During her life she enjoyed gardening, painting, playing the piano, rock collecting and jewellery making and in her later years picking salal. She also loved her cats. Violet lived in her own home until may 2002 when she went to the Cumberland Intermediate Care Facility for what unfortunately was a very brief stay.


Predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Lupton, husband, Bill in 1965 and sister, Olive, she is survived by her son Bill (Lila) Whitehouse, Courtenay; sisters, Dorothy (Al) Dixon, Nanaimo, Pearl Walker, Nanaimo; step grandchildren, Lawrence (Justine) Ball, Nanaimo, James (Donna) Ball, Terrace; step great grandchildren, Kendra and Savanah Ball and numerous nephews and nieces.


Violet was cremated as per her wish. There will be an afternoon gathering at the family home, 2948 Lupton Rd. on Tuesday, August 6 between 1-4 pm for family and friends to gather for rememberance.
