Booker, Walter Frederick
Walter passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2003 at St. Joseph’s General Hospital. Predeceased by father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. Walter Booker Sr. and 5 brothers: Arthur, Bill, George, Ronnie and Harry.
Born in 1912 in Grenwich, England. Leaving behind his loving wife of 58 years, Helen; sons: Fred (Shawna) of Hudson’s Hope, BC, Wayne (Donna) of Campbell River, BC; daughter Brenda (Bob) Letendre of St. Albert, Alberta; grandchildren: Leslie (Mike) Joles of Vernon, BC, Scott (Lisa) Letendre of Germany, Lareina (Trevor) Rezewski of St. Albert, Alberta, Trevis Booker of Campbell River, BC, and Krystle Booker of Victoria, BC; great grandchildren: Tia and Jessa Joles, Ayden and Holly Letendre, Mason and Elleson Rezewski; sisters-in-law: Nellie Booker of Port Colborne, Ontario and Ann Booker of St. Catharines, Ontario; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews in England and Canada.
Wallie served his country 1941 to 1945 in the RCASC Medical Corps in World War II in Canada, England and Italy. Returned home in January 1946 to Ontario and worked in the International Nickel Plant in Port Colborne, Ontario. Moved to the Comox Valley with wife and family in 1949 where they have resided ever since.
A Memorial Tea will be held at Comox Valley Funeral Home and CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 RYAN ROAD on Friday, January 31st at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Wallie’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s General Hospital, 2137 Comox Avenue, Comox, BC V9M 1P2, with appreciation.
