December 26, 1941 - November 22, 2018
We are saddened to announce that Wally, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2018 in Courtenay, BC at 76 years of age.

Born in Coronach, Saskatchewan, December 26, 1941, he was the second youngest of ten children. He spent his early years living and working on a dairy farm before moving into Regina as a teenager. It was there that he met the love of his life, Judy. Wally served on the Regina City Police Force before moving to St. Catharine's Ontario, back to Regina, and then to Courtenay in 1973. He worked at the Elk Falls pulp and paper mill in Campbell River for most of his career, while raising his family. Never content to sit idle, he continued to work as a house painter after retirement from the mill.

Wally was kind, generous and even tempered. He had a strong sense of fair play and was always willing to help people in need. He had a lifelong passion for birds. He had pet owls and falcons on the farm in Saskatchewan and worked with a naturalist in his youth. He was skilled woodworker and carver and created many lifelike bird figurines, most of which went to family and friends as gifts.

Wally is predeceased by his daughter, Karen. He is survived by Judy, his wife on 53 years, his sons, Dan (Marcia) and Dave, and his grandchildren, Travis, Sydney, Kenneth and Cormac.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 30 at 1:00pm at Piercy's Mt. Washington Funeral Home, 440 England Ave, Courtenay.
