Walter was a beloved husband and father who passed away peacefully on August 26, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Goldbach, Kreis Sorau, Germany on December 9, 1931.
Walter moved to Canada in 1951 where he found work in the coal mines in the Yukon and Cumberland. He also logged for Comox Valley Logging for many years then the pulp and paper industry at Elk Falls Mill in Campbell River.
He resided in Courtenay for the last 5 years with his wife Edina, but lived in merville for most of his life. Walter was a great story teller, and loved gardening and traveling. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Walter leaves behind his loving wife Edina and their daughter Sharon. He also leaves behind his children Rosemarie, Richard and Jens and is predeceased by his son Rudolph in 1993.

A celebration of Walter’s life was held this past weekend in his home with family and friends.
