Son to David and Olga Schmidt, Wilfred passed away peacefully on the 18th of January, 2018 at the Cumberland Lodge.
Predeceased by his dear wife June (2015), and brother Jerry (2015). Left behind his sons Gary and Stephan (Daniele), and his grandchildren Trisha and Joshua.
Survived by brothers Myron (Mary) of Calgary, AB, Cliff (Jan) of Cranbrook, BC, Duane (Evelyn) of Blackie, AB, sisters Louise of Regina, SK, and Arlene of St. Paul, AB as well as many nieces and nephews.
After retiring from the military in 1978 and becoming a member of Royal Canadian Legion branch 17, Dad immediately went to work at Forbidden Plateau ski hill as a heavy equipment mechanic. An avid golfer, he later moved out to Sunnydale golf course as a greens-keeper until his final retirement.
For many years, he loved working in his garden and took pride in keeping his home and property looking beautiful. Dad was a quiet man, never had a lot to say and never complained. He was a very hard working man who didn't like to sit still.
He was a very loving and loyal husband and committed dad. I love you Dad and will miss you!

Memorial/Poppy service to be held at 1 pm on Friday, February 2nd at the Courtenay Legion.
